Laboratory Assistant
Reports to: Laboratory Director
Description: The Lab Assistant is responsible for collecting blood specimens from patients (phlebotomy) and assisting the technical staff in performing certain laboratory tests. In addition, the position may be responsible for other laboratory processes and administrative duties. Must be available for on-call duties.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 days from hire
- 1 year experience in healthcare setting preferred
- Experience in phlebotomy, infant to geriatric, wearing gloves
- Experience as a Lab Assistant, Medical Lab Technologist, Certified Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant preferred
- Certification as a Phlebotomist by a nationally recognized board/agency is preferred
- Certification as a Lab Assistant or Medical Lab Technologist by a nationally recognized board/agency is preferred
- Basic computer knowledge
- Basic math skills
- Able to read & write in English, and interpret orders
